Meet Our Teachers
The teachers at MiMi Yoga make up the heart and soul of all we do. They are all diverse but most importantly they love to teach yoga!
LISA USHEROVICH
Founder and Director

Lisa found Yoga on her journey to having a healthier mind and body. After her first child, she was looking for a way to get fit, relax and to clear her head all at the same time. One day she stepped onto a yoga mat and never left. She decided she wanted to teach others the benefits of yoga.

Lisa completed her 200-Hour adult teacher training with the Bright Spirits Program  at Devotion Yoga in Hoboken, NJ. She has been fortunate enough to study with Jillian Pransky, Carrie Parker-Gastelu, and Liza Bertini in addition many other wonderful teachers. In 2010  she completed her Pre-Natal Teacher Training with Carrie Parker-Gastelu and Postnatal teacher training with Yoga Mom, Buddha Baby Author Joythi Larson. All of her teachers have been a wonderful inspiration to her.

She believes the way to connect the body to the spirit is to make the soul smile through a practice that is fun and challenging and that belief is what she brings to the mat.

Lisa has two beautiful daughters Daniella and Jaiden. She would like to thank them and her husband Greg for always filling her with love and inspiration.

Deanna Sidoti
Deanna graduated from Lotus College of Yoga, where she trained with Laughing Lotus founder, Dana Flynn, Alison Cramer, and many incredible teachers who share that teaching is an offering of the heart.  She is a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance (RYT).  She celebrates the practice of yoga as a powerful tool for opening the body, mind, and heart, and embracing one’s true Self. When Deanna first began her yoga practice, she had chronic back pain due to scoliosis and back injuries. A consistent practice has helped her immensely, deepening her understanding of our innate ability for healing and transformation.

Her classes are infused with passion for the power of yogic philosophy and the rhythm of conscious breath and movement flowing into stillness. She challenges her students to recognize opportunities to watch the mind dance, let go of old patterns, confront comfort zones, and float on the waves of experience that surge along the path.

Daba Briggs
During your session with Daba, her goal is to lead you into a space where you can tap your inner awareness. To do this, she encourages practitioners to close their eyes and focus on their
prana – life force or breath - as it runs through their bodies.  Once yogis have established a connection to their breath, they become increasingly aware of every movement throughout their body.

After receiving her 200-hour certification from Yoga to the People, Daba now lives, practices and shares her yoga teaching in the NYC metro area (including Jersey City, Hoboken, and Manhattan). She is blessed to share yoga in her community.

Courtney Scarff
I am a former professional dancer, turned yogini.  I've always found myself inspired by creative movement.  At the end of my dance career, I walked into a yoga class to de-stress.  There I was, moving all over the mat, flowing through the asana, creating these new shapes.  By the end of the class, I was in love.  Not only was I more inspired than I had been in years, my body felt free and my mind was calm.  I knew that this journey into yoga would change my life forever.

I completed my 200 hour teacher certification through the Center for Yoga Studies at Sonic Yoga in NYC.  Sonic Yoga teaches Vinyasa Yoga inspired by the teachings of Shiva Rea.  I have also completed my prenatal certification under Carrie Parker at Yoga Works and children's certification through Karma Kids Yoga.  I have been truly inspired by the teachers I have studied under and feel very honored to share this gift with my students.

Barbara is a certified and registered Yoga Educator and Therapist, having completed her training with Bright Spirit under Jillian Pransky and Carrie Parker, Yoga Therapist at Kripalu and certification in Restorative Yoga II.   Additional training includes studying with Nischia Joy Devi, Bo Forbes, Gary Kraftsow, Judith Hanson Lasater, Mark Whitall, AlanFinger, Shiva Rea, and Jonas Westring.

Ten years ago, Barbara’s overwhelming interest in the practice and the profound effects that yoga has brought to her life, spirit and well-being inspired her to leave her NYC corporate career of many years and take the leap of pursuing her love of yoga...she’s very happy she did.
Barbara’s work as an actress in New York and as a published fiction writer contribute to her creative and upbeat style.  Her aspiration is to give others the gift of yoga and to guide them into being able to find union (yoga) between the experience on our mats and those we meet in life by unveiling the rich tapestry that is yoga–body, breath and relationship as it relates to each individual.
